It has been 12 years since Max and Igor Cavalera split ways almost ending the long career of famed metal band Sepultura but with the recent release of Inflikted, Cavalera Conspiracy's debut album they have come to prove that the blood is thicker than water and that they are back... with a vengeance!
Joined by Soulfly guitarist Marc Rizzo, and bass player Joe Duplantier, and also featuring guest appearances by Max Cavalera’s stepson Ritchie Cavalera and former Pantera bassist Rex Brown, The Cavalera Conspiracy has given us something the world has definitely needed for a long time, a metal album that rocks!
The frenzy of skillful guitar work preformed by Max Cavalera and Marc Rizzo will have your pulse pounding harder and faster than you would think possible and combined with the unmatched anger of the rhythm section, Inflikted should come with a medical warning label. From the start of the title track all the way through the chaos and into the last song of this LP we are whisked away to a world where we are reminded of what metal used to be: a world once ruled by acts like Slayer, Destruction, and of course, Sepultura.
The album is fueled with the fury we have come to expect from Max Cavalera, tackling issues in the direction of mostly war and politics, which is not a far cry from his previous work with his various other bands. Picture the album being where Sepultura should have continued after their break-up in 1996, minus the tribal drum jams and add in amazing solos and pure shredding. Nothing within the confines of Inflikted will leave anything to be desired. Prepare to have your face torn off!
Despite its apparent lack of publicity and only offering 11 tracks all together, Cavalera Conspiracy's Inflikted should and will become the metal album of the year. You can bet your entire metal collection on that!
