The Reel Review, By Jamie Bradley
Mar 29, 2008

In spite of all the mixed and negative reviews that have been written about this movie so far there needs to be one overwhelmingly positive critique. So here it is! This movie is awesome! Kevin Spacey and the unknown crew of MIT whizzes head out to Vegas for an all out roller coaster ride. The aspiring Harvard Med-School student who can't afford the overpriced education and his new partners in crime take the audience into the world of the cheap and sleazy. The busty blondes and strippers take an oh so critical role in the highflying glitz and glamour of this tale of two worlds. Spacey and Fishburne have a past that divulges into a 'gotcha' plot but nonetheless it has that charisma about it that does not disappoint.

There are no pointing fingers here, because this isn't the 'lets dig up dirt on our opponent so we can win the White House', but the put downs on this movie just do not really have substance here. 21 is a fun, action packed, and occasionally smart film. It by no means has the wit like "The Sting" or "Oceans" but it draws new blood from the "What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas" slogan. We all know that Las Vegas is losing its inhabitants but there is still some juice to be squeezed out of the place and 21 does just that. The blood pumping, heart-pounding film of a life story that can only have a happy ending is well worth the date night. And if you read your cards right, you might get lucky! ;)

4 out of 4 skulls
