Happy 4th of July everyone!! Now what do I mean when I say that? What does the fourth of July signify anyway these days? We all know that was the day the Declaration of Independence was originally signed and dated (although it was completed on July 2nd and most delegates didn't sign the Declaration until August 2, 1776). It represents a day in our culture's history that we finally broke free from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Why would we want to do that in the first place? Were our friends across the sea mean and unfair or were we just ready for what was next, a people's government, united and free. How far has the apple fallen from the tree? Have we become who we originally set out to break free from? Are we really free? Are we united? It seems like every current issue has two opinions that divide those of us who chose to only see one side of the coin. If we are constantly judging what is right and what is just, how can we truly be free? Freedom, it is a myth these days. Freedom in what? Government? Religion? Our past? "With freedom comes great responsibility. With responsibility, comes great freedom." So today when you take your first bite of barbecued chicken or see the first colorful explosion in the sky, think about the courage our forefathers must have had to step into a new future for their children. Also think about the future WE are passing on to our children. There will be a time when our stand becomes greater than our comfort. Be who you really are, an inspiring, free spirit. Be independent.

Your thread inspired me to wrap myself up in the American flag as well.

It's almost illegal if you're burning hot, make sure to have a pitcher of water or beer handy to douse the flames.
