I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about Gloom and thinking about changing the site name to Gloom Nation from Gloom Magazine. We are still going to do the printed magazine but I think Gloom Nation might be a better community name. I know for me Gloom is more about us as a community than a magazine. So that is why I think it is a good idea. The only thing that would change would be your profile urls from

http://www.gloommagazine.com/brianpatrickwade

to

http://www.gloomnation.com/brianpatrickwade

I have also gone back and forth on the colors of Gloom I personally like the pink and black but then again I love going to the Sanrio store too I have thought about using red and black and think those would be great colors too. The other option would be creating two themes for the Gloom site and each member would have the choice to choose what theme you want to use. We could keep the classic pink and black theme and have a red and black theme.

If any of you want to share your opinion on this I would appreciate the feedback.

I think that everyone thats known it thus far has known it as gloom magazine.com And it would be easter for the potential printed magazine readers to remember to go to a site name that is already stuck in their head.
But it makes more sense that the whole website community/networking is gloomnation.com Just because of all it offers.
The good thing about gloommagazine.com is that when people who don't know about the actual potential magazine hit the site... they ask and learn. And they are now all waiting for the printed issues to appear.
Where as if its gloomnation.com they have no idea that there is a real magazine in the works.

I don't know if its made clear anywhere on the site... because I just suck at reading the obvious. But maybe make it more of a bigger deal to explain that there will be a printed magazine. Like a "History" section so to speak.


So in my brainstorming I have decided I think it should stay gloommagazine.com and call it gloom magazines networking community "gloom nation".

And the red and black and pink and black are both cool.
I think that pink and black is great... but may turn off guys who don't initially look further than the colors and see there are pretty girls to look at on here and more!
So I think that the option of being able to change your colors to black and red if you like is cool. But s till keep the pink and black around for us sanrio lovers like you and I!

I think GloomNation.com sounds better. Like how you were saying, people don't understand what this is when they see the website name. I know I didn't get it until I investigated further. If I hadn't known people on here, I probably wouldn't have even looked.

Of course, though, Kelly Lee brings up a good point. I think that having a section of the site for the magazine would solve that problem.

Color options are always a good idea.

I was talking to my Wife Diana (AKA Amelia Grim) and she suggested that we have two URL's and have GloomMagazine.com link to the Magazine section here http://www.gloommagazine.com/magazine.html and have the rest of the site use the Gloom Nation domain name (URL) and logo. What do you think of that?

I think you have a very intelligent wife.

I like Gloom Nation more... Because it's more than just a future magazine. Bah what do I know though...haha

Yeah, that's a good idea. I also like the black red idea. If you want to make merchandice in the future you can use those for men items. I like the black pink aswell but I would not wear it.

You said that you have promo stuff for Gloom-parties? wouldn't it be nice to sell some stuff in a webshop? I'd wear it with pride.

i think the two URLs is a great idea pleases everyone lol and color options would be nice too i guess but me myself, I love gloom the way it is and I absolutely love the pink and black (they are my favorite colors)!

I think Gloom Nation is a better fit for the website. It wil also help the magazine because "Gloom Magazine" will specifically be a magazine.

I personally like Amelia's suggestion with the two URLs. and Kelly Lee was right in saying that I think that the more people go to gloommagazine that the more people will know about the magazine. I think it might get confusing for which sites the people should go to though. Because you would need to make banners for gloomamagzine and for gloomnation right? I guess people would link both but doesnt that seem repetitive?

i guess another option is changing this to gloom nation and making a HUGE HUGE LINK to the gloom magazine somewhere on the front?

I agree with having two URL's and gloom magazine linking to the magazine pages would be best.
